In 1946, the King's Park School football team won the Glasgow and District Schools Intermediate Shield. Thank you to Mr L W F Jamieson who gifted this very special photograph to the school in 1996.
The team included goalkeeper Ronnie Simpson, who went on to greater things with Newcastle United, Hibernian and Celtic.
The line up is as follows:
BACK ROW: Mr W McDonald, A Nicol, R Simpson, Mr J A Hodge (Head Teacher), W Murray, R Rosbotham, Mr R Hughes.
MIDDLE ROW: C Anderson, J Duncan, W McCulloch, W McKay
FRONT ROW: R Baillie, J Whitson.
The team, unfortunately, were not awarded medals, as World War 2 had not long ended, and metal was still a scarce commodity. The team were treated to a dinner in Sloan's Restaurant in town, and each received a copy of this photograph.
