Miss Dawson writes:  S1 pupils with an interest in the past have the opportunity to learn more about historical events and people that they are curious about.

  

Each session focuses on an individual historical theme, which is chosen prior to the meeting by students. Some of the topics chosen so far have included Roman Gladiators, Jack the Ripper, the Egyptians and 9/11.

  

During the meetings, the students are engaged in a variety of activities which include interactive games on the Smart Board, poster work, group discussion and newspaper reports. Several of the students have also been involved in acting out historical scenes including one focusing on Egyptian mummification.

 

The History Club meets every Monday at lunchtime in the History Department and all S1 pupils are welcome.
