DRAGON'S DEN

Well done to the P7 pupils who took part in the Dragon's Den on 10th November, and thank you to Mrs Yuile, Employability Officer, for arranging this.  Thank you to the judges, and a BIG THANK YOU TO THE CHILDREN OF HILLTOP NURSERY SCHOOL FOR MAKING THE HEALTHY SNACKS!

Here is a report from Craig Campbell, one of the S4 helpers:

My name is Craig Campbell and I was a helper at the Dragon’s Den competition on Wednesday 10th November at King’s Park Secondary. Pupils from Croftfoot and King’s Park Primaries, Mount Florida and Toryglen, all took part in the competition

The team were mixed and asked to

·        Form a company and decide on a name and design a logo.

·        Invent a new product that they think would sell and give it a name.

·        Decide what job everyone in the team should have e.g. accountant, marketing director, designers, artists and maybe a managing director who is your spokesperson.

·        Draw a design of their product showing any special features.

·        Plan an advertising campaign.

·        Complete a budget sheet showing costs and profits. REMEMBER THE DRAGONS WILL ONLY INVEST IN A COMPANY THAT IS GOING TO MAKE A PROFIT

·        Pitch their product to the Dragons.

The Dragons were very impressed with all the ideas, and the winners were paid £5 salary. One group that won designed a toothbrush with toothpaste in it and the other group created a scootmower, to have fun when cutting grass. Also Hilltop Nursery joined us and made fruit kebabs, smoothies and crackers and cheese. The event was organised by our employability officer Mrs Yuile.

My opinion was that the event was a success, it was really good.  I know all the kids enjoyed it by the look on their faces.
