ENGINEERS WITHOUT BORDERS

ENGINEERS WITHOUT BORDERS is a student-led organisation whose members use their skills to help engineering projects in developing countries.  They also visit schools to spread the message about what they do.  A team of eight, all students at Strathclyde University, came to King's Park to run workshops for S2 science classes.  The team included former pupil Margarita Papadaki.  The theme of the workshop was 'Water for the World' and pupils had to work in teams to build a water purification system.  There were prizes for the teams who produced the cleanest water.
Comments from the pupils:

'The experiment was fun and the people were great.'

'We waste so much water everyday for no reason.'

'We learned about people who don't have clean water and how lucky we are that we do.'

'They were nice people to talk to and it was well explained.'

'I think engineering would be an interesting career.'
