PRIMARY 7 SCIENCE EVENT

Thank you to Miss Warrender and Mr MacKinnon for the recent Primary 7 Science Event.  Here is Miss Warrender's report:

On 4th March 2010, a Primary 7 Science Challenge was held at the school.   160 Primary 7 pupils from our partner primary schools actively took part in a forensic investigation to solve a crime and help “Agent Hard-Boil” locate a kidnapped chick and find out who committed the crime.  Pupils relished the opportunity to use science equipment and skills to do this.

In the dramatic climax of this event, pupils manufactured a device to give Agent Hard Boil an escape from the Eggsterminators.

The day was supported by STEM Ambassadors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths), a group of science professionals who volunteer to provide assistance at such events. Community police officers made an appearance and interacted with the pupils. We were very grateful to have their help.

We found this experience very rewarding and feedback from pupils suggests the event was a success. Hopefully transition events like this will become regular in the King’s Park Secondary School calendar.
