Welcome to the Music Department,
Our main aim is to promote and encourage the enjoyment of music in its many forms for everyone.
We provide a growing and exciting programme of activities, in and outside the classroom, which gives students opportunities to get involved in different forms of music-making at all levels throughout the school. Being involved in music activities enables our pupils to develop self-expression, cultural understanding, critical skills and social interaction. It also helps to increase self-esteem, self-discipline and creativity.
The Music Department is run by three passionate practising musicians (Miss Horning – PT, Mr Halyburton and Mr Fraser) who work closely together to enhance and improve the provision of music and organise all music events across the entire school. In addition, there are also seven instrumental teachers who provide individual instrumental lessons every week.
Music plays a major part in the life of the school and pupils are encouraged to take part in the musical activities available. Please see the Extra-Curricular board for details!
Miss Horning,
